This week I would like for you to meet Vera from:
She is actually in the middle of a BIG move from the middle of the country to the east. I would love it if she could be up to at least 150 followers when she's able to get back online!
Grade you teach:
I teach kindergarten! Woohoo!
Where do you teach?
Well....since 2006 I taught in
Austin, Texas. But this September will be the beginning of my teaching
career in Bedford, MA.
How long have you been teaching?
This year starts my 7th year of teaching.
What is your teaching "style"?
Flexible. I'm always the teacher
singing and dancing with her kiddos. Ain't no party like a Corbett
party!
What is your favorite "teacher" book?
Last year, towards the end of
the school year; I started reading/looking into Whole Brain Teaching.
There is a plethora of information on their website. The best thing is
that it is all free.
What is your most memorable teaching moment?
When I think about
which memory will always bring a smile to my face...it would have to be
the following. Every school year the kinder classes have a graduation.
The children walk across the stage, receive a diploma, perform a group
song/dance, and share a meal with their family and friends. Last year,
my kiddos wanted to sing a song by Adele, "Someone like you.". We
practiced daily, I even wrote out the lyrics for them to practice at the
reading center. One day during centers, I played the song so the
kiddos could sign while they worked. They were all engaged in their
work...singing along loudly when suddenly one little friend belts out, "
Sometimes it last in love and sometimes it hurts...in SPACE!". From
that day forward that is the only way we sang "Someone like you"!
Why did you start your blog?
When I found out I would be joining Mr.
Roboto in Massachusetts, I wanted a way to stay in touch with friends
and family. I wanted something to document my progress but also connect
me with thoughtful and creative teachers across the country.
Where else can we find you?
(She also just opened a TN store, but I don't have the link for it. Sorry! I'm sure she's have it on her blog soon._
Do you have a freebie you would like to share?
Unfortunately, my internet isn't set up yet..so I can't share a freebie like I'd like too. However, everything I create gets posted for free for a limited time. You need to follow my blog to know the details...believe me it's worth it!
