This week we are continuing to work on our numbers 1-10.
I went shopping this weekend and found a little bowling set with 10 pins.
I've thought of two ways to play.
1. Number the pins 1-10.
2. Set them up.
3. Roll the ball.
You can either go two ways with the ones they knock down.
1. You can record how many you knocked down.
(ex. I knocked down 3 pins. I'll color in above the number 3. Set them up and knock them down again. I knocked down 5 this time, color above the number 5)
2. You can record the numbers on the pins you knocked down.
(ex. I knocked down number 1, 2, 3 and 10..color above each number)
Wondering how to record...I thought you might be, so here is a freebie graph!
We are also reading Life in an Ocean this week. I made a book for this story to bring our math and reading concepts together.
Have a great Monday!

Love the combination of bowling and math.thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMarc1a:)
OMG I love this...I use "Bowling in Math" ALSO! But for fractions (fraction of pins knocked down...) in my 6th grade resource center. I am definitely going to use (and tell my first-grade-teaching-boyfriend about) your idea of graphing!!
ReplyDeleteI have three sets of life-size pins, bowling balls, and mats. I like your smaller version though. It's always such a pain for me to lug the big body-bags of pins back and forth from home to school. Where did you get yours?
